Make The Sellers An Offer They Can't Refuse

 

 

In a blistering real estate market, landing a dream home sometimes entails more than coming up with the asking price. Indeed, offering a premium to the asking price often is not even enough to win the bidding. An increasing number of hopeful homeowners are finding that throwing in perks on top of high bids and pre-approved credit is the only way to secure the home they want. As an example, Mike and Mary Tasker snagged their home by combining a high offer with a pre-approved loan, almost no contingencies, plus two weeks at their vacation time-share for the sellers. Other buyers have tried including sizable gift certificates and presents, while still others have even gone so far as to tug on the heartstrings of the sellers to land the house. Joe and Ellen Morrissey, for example, won a house by writing a handwritten note and including a photo of their children, saying how nice it would be to raise them in such a  beautiful house.

While these creative tactics may catch the sellers' attention, most often they will work only when backed up by a high bid and few if any conditions.
