Limited Edition of 10 Museum Grade, Fine Art Prints.
Visiting Culloden Moor was a deeply spiritual experience for me. This site was the last stand for Scottish sovereignty on April 16, 1746 and between 1,500 and 2,000 Scottish Jacobites and about 300 English government solders died here. My ancestors lived in the Highlands and may have been involved in the uprising. We arrived at the battlefield site just as the visitors center was closing so we spent the evening until sundown walking and photographing the field, contemplating freedom. The cairn and headstones markers were erected by Duncan Forbes in 1881 years after the battle when it was once again safe to honor the Scots who died fighting tyranny.
