Glacier National Park was made a National Park on May 11, 1910. The area was first inhabited by the Flathead and Blackfeet Native Americans. The 16,000 square miles of the park is still the home to wildlife such as bear, wolf, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, deer, elk and moose. The vast wilderness of the park is a favorite for back country campers, hikers and adventure seekers.
Glacier National Park is one of my places despite the crowds. I have found visiting the park in mid October is best, the weather is still good and the autumn colors can add highlights to the scenery. The vast forests, snow capped mountains and glacier valleys make this park perfect for landscape photography. The abundant wildlife gives other amazing opportunities to create nature photography.
