Goslings are just so cute! I love watching them swim and explore their world. I watched this family of geese swimming in the shallow water at the bird refuge and just had to isolate them against the reeds in the background. I love the softness of this photograph. I have been a bird lover since I was a child. My brother and I won two ducklings at a carnival once when we were early teens and our patient mother lets us keep them in a cardboard box in our bedroom. We took them outside for daily walks and swims in the local ditch and they followed us everywhere. Once they were grown we took them to the park and let them join the local population of domestic ducks that lived there. A few years later I rescued a sparrow chick that had fallen from its nest and hand raised it until it was old enough to fly away. We were then given a cockatiel from someone who could no longer keep it and that bird bonded with me and was my best friend until it died some 15 years later. Honestly I would much rather be around animals than most people.
