Kodachrome Basin is a spectacular place of sweeping desert scenes, red rock spires, towering cliffs and sandstone shapes of every kind. I took this photograph in the morning light just feet from my campsite as I looked off the cliff edge I was camped near. The park ranger had hand picked the two backcountry campsites because they "offer the best views in the park" and I wasn't let down when I arrived at BCC2. This area is literally the heart of the park and when I photographed this rock formation I thought it looked like the heart of Kodachrome.
