Ent Skin

Sherwood Forest, England

Limited Edition of 10 Museum Grade, Fine Art Prints.

I love forests and trees. I think each tree has its own voice, thoughts and spirit. Trees feel the earth with their roots, hearing the vibrations of every living thing. Trees observe and collect the knowledge of the seasons and the passing of time. Standing next to an old tree, hundreds or thousands of years old, is humbling and awe-inspiring. Trees have a lot to tell us if we will listen. It was a dream come true to visit Sherwood Forest. It was once a vast forest covering as much as a quarter of Nottinghamshire in woodland and heath. It has a long history of use and development beginning in the 9th century. When I entered Sherwood Forest it felt like a park, a tourist attraction, but then I listened. I heard ancient voices, I could feel the age of the forest, and that it was once a forest full of magic, mystery and Ents. I've always loved the concept of Ents from The Lord of the Rings books and I was intrigued by this old tree. The colors of the wood and texture reminded me of the skin of the magical creatures created by Tolkien. Creating this photograph was like looking into the eyes of tree and seeing its spirit.
