We often drive past hidden treasure every day. All it takes is to get out and explore, look around and find the unusual, the unexpected.
I've been driving past this location for over 50 years. I've even stopped at the pullout and hiked, never thinking of the hidden perspective in plane sight. This day I happened to glance over the bank of the river and saw a gem somehow lost and forgotten. But getting my camera gear and myself down to the rivers edge and back to my car safely turn out to be a whole other adventure.
The autumn light was amazing, the colors of the trees perfect, I had to move up stream a little to find a clear foreground but I ultimately found this composition I loved. Getting back to my car was a test of my nerve and strength. I can only imagen what the occupant of the only other car thought as they saw my tripod and camera come up and get set in the pullout with only my hands showing and then a grey bearded old man climb up from the edge of the river bank.
