Low Tide

Lindisfarne, England

Limited Edition of 10 Museum Grade, Fine Art Prints.

We had tried to drive out to Lindisfarne the previous day but found the tide coming in. So we turned around and drove back the Lindisfarne Inn and got some rooms and a good night sleep. They have tidal charts in the inn to know the safe zone to travel to the island and we got up early the next morning once the coast was clear and drove out. We parked at the car park just outside of town and I noticed a National Trust vehicle and a nice gentleman handing out information. I'm always one to talk to strangers, so I started up a conversation with him. I asked him if he was from the island. He laughed and said, "no I would never live here!" I inquired why? He asked if I had seen the movie Deliverance? I was a little shocked because I thought that movie was only an American cult classic. I replied I had and found it very disturbing. He said, "well when the tide comes in if you are stranded on the island, the town turns into a scene from that movie!" I replied I'd make sure I was off the island before the tide came in!! For this photograph I loved the gray, gloomy scene of the boats stranded on the tidal plain with the castle in the distance. I love the soft muted colors and the ripples in the sand.
