Antelope Island is one of my favorite places to go explore and look for wildlife. Winter can be the best season and this day was perfect. It was the fist week of February 2016 and there was still snow on the ground. I don’t look for animals, I look for movement or just parts of animals. Ears, tails and legs really can stand out and that is how I spotted this coyote. I saw slight movement and I pulled over to glass the area. Sure enough there was a dog hunting through the rocks. I leaned across the hood of my car to steady the camera and began shooting. I was waiting for a perfect pose with it looking at me. Visualizing what you want before it happens helps make you ready, learning animal behavior also helps because you can wait for the moment. I waited and then it stopped with the perfect pose and looked right at me. I was ecstatic that I caught the photograph!! I also really like the mood of the image.
