Autumn in Motion Series - Sway

Uinta Mountains, Utah

Limited Edition of 5 Museum Grade, Fine Art Prints.

This image is part of my series Autumn in Motion. I took these images while sitting in the passenger seat of the car as we drove over the Mirror Lake Highway, Utah on September 15, 2021. The fall colors were just really starting in the aspen trees and I loved the light and colors but we didn't have time to stop, so I decided to shoot from the moving car. The technique used in this style of abstract photography is called Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and is done by moving the camera during the exposure. In this case I panned to the right and up with each exposure trying to match the speed of the car.

This photograph is one of my favorites of this series. I just love how it turned out. The trees closer to the car were moving faster in this perspective from the forest in the background so as I panned the camera to the right and up the foreground was more solid and the background more fluid. Because of this perspective shift the background was blended into the sky causing this fantastic sunset effect. I also love how the trees seem to be swaying as if by the wind.

Vibrant Colors and Clarity!

The Finished print will look different than what you see on your phone or computer screen. Your phone or computer screen does not do justice to the amazing color and depth of these museum grade, fine art prints. When enlarged to sizes of 24x36 or larger these prints really explode in detail and vibrancy. Proper lighting on your prints can be key to how they will look in your home or office. Here is an article Tomas wrote about how to light your photographic art.
