I took this image on December 20 2017, I never would have thought I could get such wonderful fall photographs the day before the winter Solstice! I was in the Lake Havasu, Arizona area on business for the week, and as usual I took my camera gear hoping to get some images. The day before I went scouting around the Bill Williams Wildlife Refuge and really liked what I saw. This day I was on site before the sunrise in hopes of getting some great images. I wasn’t let down! I shot the sunrise over the Refuge with a wide angle lens, then switched to my 300 mm lens to isolate some areas. This one was an afterthought as I was looking for a few last areas. I knew it was nice but I never expected it to be my favorite shot of the whole trip!! I asked my wife what I should title it and as usual she came through with “Water Colors”. I love the light just touching the top of the grass and bushes, the yellow, green and blue hues and the curving water line leading the viewers eyes into the scene.
