Hovenweep National Monument sits on the Utah, Colorado Border between Blanding Utah and Cortez Colorado. It is a unique site where ancient Pueblo people built homes, towers and storage buildings out of rock and on the edge of the wide and deep canyons that feed the San Juan River. Like Mesa Verde this site is strange, intriguing and very photogenic.
I have visited Hovenweep a number of times but this day January 10, 2019 I visited just after a fresh snowfall. I was the only one at the main site near the visitors center and as I explored the only sound was my feet crunching in the snow. I loved this perspective with Hovenweep Castle and Square Tower highlighted in the sunset light.
