Nothing beats standing alone in the dark on the edge of a river with the Milky Way streaming overhead and the stars are so bright you can see the galaxy reflecting in the water. To capture this in camera takes preparation and planning. I watched the weather waiting for the perfect conditions and knowing where the galaxy would be headed up to Christmas Meadows. I set up camp, scouted where I wanted to be and then went back after dark. The sky was amazing and the green airglow was almost overpowering the image. I actually dialed back the green in this photograph and yet it is still strong. I could actually see the galaxy reflecting in the water and the dark horse nebula was more distinct than I have ever seen. The nebula looks like a horse running up into the sky with a ghost on its back. This image turned out exactly how I wanted!
