Christmas Meadows in the Uinta Mountains of Utah is one of the premier places to experience the high alpine settings of the Rocky Mountains. The winding river, beautiful forests and amazing night skies make this a very popular place to do astro photography. I planned this trip by watching the weather and waiting for the perfect conditions knowing the night sky would be amazing. I also wanted to shoot this image in one exposure just as the quarter moon was setting and shining light on the mountains. Getting great photographs is all about planning and luck and this night all the stars aligned and I stood in awe at the Milky Way overhead reflection in the water.
